“Celebrating Green Living in Our Community”
BLUESTEM EARTH FESTIVAL
Dear Friends of Bluestem Earth Festival,
Whether guest, vendor, sponsor or friend for one or nine years, you have shared your passions, knowledge and skills to join us in celebrating and educating on the life culture that promotes sustainable living. Our in-person festival had so many wonderful venders and exhibits, as well as 5 educational topics of Bluestem University. There were animals and art, healthy food options and earth-friendly plants, door prizes, crafts, services and information. We were motivated by the core value of the Joliet Franciscan Sisters, “Care for our Earth and the Peoples of the Earth, our brothers and sisters.”
After pausing for Covid 19 during 2020 and venturing to an online format in 2021 we are pleased to inform you that we brought back Bluestem Earth Festival in 2023! The event was held on a beautiful, sunny Saturday, May 20th at Bronkberry Farms in Plainfield. This years’ free event welcomed over 800 guests.
To all who made this event possible, through planning of the event, volunteering, participating in some capacity, supporting our event, or attending, you have our sincerest appreciation. This event would not have been such a success without you.

Our Mission
The Franciscan charism has always been one committed to peace, hospitality, and regard for the poor and oppressed. The heart of St. Francis was turned toward all of creation and toward living with justice and care. At our time in history, we are surrounded by critical and massive injustices: devastation of natural resources, global warming, human trafficking, racism, pollution.
How can we be part of healing the crises of today? Bluestem Earth Festival: Living with Justice and Care is an effort of the Joliet Franciscan Sisters and Associates offering education and ideas for action.
